More art to explore

You may recall that I recently swung by the Museum of Sex to see what that place was all about. Turns out it was a pretty cool gallery dedicated to lewd artwork and sculptures, which I would highly recommend checking out if you ever get an opportunity to.

Anyway, I'm digressing... The reason that I bring this up is that the owner of that establishment has another art gallery that is targeted at a... let's say... more mainstream audience. That's not to say there isn't anything lewd there. Or as the signage in the gallery refers to it, some Erotica. But it is partitioned off in an adults only section away from eyes for whom it may either be inappropriate or uncomfortable.

You know me through me. It was obviously the first section I checked out before moving on to view the more conventional pieces on display. To be fair, there's nothing too outrageous in the Erotica section though. Just a couple of abstract painting which, although pretty suggestive, weren't too explicit, and a whole wall display of erotic statues.

Again, not the most graphic of things you could find in an Erotica section. If any of these pieces were to be transferred to the Museum of Sex, they would certainly be amongst the tamer pieces of display there. Regardless, a bit of lewdness, even if fairly tame, is always a bonus!

As for the rest of the exhibits... well, I'm no art expert so I'm not going to start trying to through out terms that I would probably get wrong. But much like the paintings in the Erotica section, a lot of the regular paintings are fairly abstract. At least to my uneducated eyes, anyway.

Also some pretty cool sculptures and statues. Naturally, they continue along similar sorts lines stylistically as the paints that adorn the walls. And even the couches and seats around the perimeter of the hall have an abstract spin applied to them. I'm not sure if they are exhibits in and of themselves or if they are purely there to be functional but I like that they perfectly fit the theme.

I shouldn't forget to mentioned that the main exhibit hall isn't all there is to see and do while you visit. The gardens outside are home to even more sculptures that you gain admire while meandering around the grounds.

And, in the neighbouring building to the exhibit hall, you can treat yourself to either a quick drink or sit down for a full meal in the onsite bar / restaurant. Not only is it a pretty classy place to grab a drink or a bite, but, and this part probably shouldn't surprise you, there is even more art for you to take a look at while you are in there.

As for above the bar, I think there were some hotel rooms up there. I didn't get chance to investigate those but I guess they would be perfect for anyone who needs somewhere to stay overnight.
