Raffle Hype

Tell me... were you hyped for the Update Hype community event?

Honestly, I can't say I was simply because I wasn't sure if I was even going to be able to make it due to existing commitments. At best, I knew I would be turning up towards the end when things have usually tended to die down at previous events. Kinda hard to get hyped when that's the case.

Mind you, I wouldn't blame those of you who were there for the whole event for getting hyped. After all, this was going to be the communities first ever live raffle with some pretty cool prizes being handed out, with the headline items being free Lovense toys. If you're being cynical, that's one way to buy a good crowd attendance.

My fear was that I'd completely miss the raffle, thus leaving the event as a massive anti-climax for late arrivers like me. Thankfully, this was considered by the organisers and they staggered the draws throughout the evening rather than doing them all at once.

I think I arrived about 4 hrs into the event, just in time for them to make the eighth prize draw, which also happened to the penultimate draw. Although there were 100s of peeps there, I struggled to actually find anyone to hang out with so I ended up killing time by taking photos until the ninth and final draw was made and moving on to meet up with Emmy (and that's a story in and of itself... coming soon). And yes, I was in such a rush to get there that I just threw on the same goth dress that I'd worn the previous night to The Black Rose... sue me!

Sadly, I've not seen the results of the raffle published anywhere, such as in the Discord server, so I have no idea who won the other 7 prizes. I just know that everyone's favourite boob inspector, Oli, won one of the draws I caught and someone I'm not familiar won the other one I witnessed. I only mention this because I heard whispers that there was some displeasure about how many of the prizes went to people who move in the same circles. I would be interested to see how suspicious the results actually look before deciding whether it looks suss to me as well.

Besides the raffle draw, the other element of this event was the more prominent sex messaging in the event announcement. Apart from the early Lovense themed parties, the sex side of things has largely been forgotten or ignored, which has always felt like a big oversight to me. However, this one not only promised that things might get naughty but went as far as to say that clothes were optional. Definitely giving off the vibe that the organisers were hoping there would be some lewdness on the cards.

And, lo and behold, I did catch some naughty fuckers in the act during my relatively short visit. So that definitely gets a thumbs up from me. Some brave souls were even brave enough to be going at it on the edge of the dance floor, although most sort a more comfortable spot in the ouch area.

I just hope this encouraging of sex times at event is the organisers dipping a proverbial toe in the water to test how well naughtier themes might be embraced. And that they now have the courage to follow up by continuing down this path. Fingers crossed!

Apart from that, I don't really have a huge amount to say, although I will comment on the venue, as that is something I always end up spending a large majority of these sort of event round-up posts dwelling on. For what it's worth, the 'middle of nowhere' motel vibe they went with was well pulled off. Choosing to add some verticality by splitting over several floors around the dancefloor helping maintain a good density of bodies while not being as crazy packed as these events tend to be. And it was certainly easier to navigate the crowds than is often the case.

Like I said at the outset, I was a late arrival, so obviously take that into account with what I've just said. Had I turned up a few hours earlier, possibly I would be once again be complaining about overcrowding but thankfully that wasn't my experience this time, even if I did still find it hard to find any in the crowd.

The only thing I'll say is that, for once, I can't complain about the bizarrely unthemed music for guests to dance too. For once the usual mix of generic EMD and the like wasn't completely inappropriate and a  jarring clash with the rest of the event's theming. So, while its still wasn't anything that I actually want to hear, at least it didn't detract from the overall experience this time. I'll take that as a small mercy and sign off on that semi-positive note.
