This year I prepared a nice sponge birthday cake with copious amounts strawberry fondant on top and in-between the layers of the sponge. Very decadent. And she did very well to blow all of her candles out in one go. Although she did forget to make a wish until I reminded her afterwards. Hopefully the small delay in wishing does not prevent it coming true for her.
Full disclosure, when we tucked into the cake, I ended up getting as much of it on my face as I did in my mouth as I attempted to scoff my whole slice down in one. That's what happens when you have cake without any plates to put it on; you've just got to nom it all in one go instead. At least, that's what I think...
